The mechanics
How Remedy
Fund works.
A direct, all-or-nothing funding model — built to be transparent about how money moves, what we do, and what we don’t.
For contributors
Back the work
in three steps.
Browse & discover
- Explore projects by category, stage, or funding goal
- Read proposals, budgets, and credentialed-researcher profiles
- Every project is screened for completeness, researcher credentialing, and content-policy compliance before going live
Fund with confidence
- Contribute any amount from $5 to $10,000
- Payments are processed through Stripe Connect
- All-or-nothing: if the campaign doesn't reach its goal by the end date, every contribution is refunded automatically within 5–10 business days
Follow the work
- Receive notifications when milestone updates are published
- See evidence and progress as the researcher reports it
- Milestones are reporting, not escrow — funds are not withheld pending milestone delivery
Material terms
Fees & refunds.
The platform’s commercial terms, summarized. See Terms of Service for the full text.
- Platform fee
- 6% on successfully funded campaigns. No fee if the campaign doesn’t reach its goal. Stripe payment-processing fees apply separately and are charged by Stripe directly.
- Refunds
- If a campaign does not reach its goal by the end date, every contribution is refunded automatically. Refunds typically appear on the original payment method within 5–10 business days.
- Not an investment
- Contributions are voluntary support, not investments. Contributors receive no equity, ownership, or financial return. Contributions are not tax-deductible.
For researchers
From credential
to funded.
Get credentialed
- Sign up and complete your researcher profile
- Submit identity, affiliation, and credential documentation for review
- Once credentialing is complete, you can launch campaigns
Create a project
- Describe your research, methodology, and budget
- Set a funding goal and campaign duration (14–90 days)
- Define 3 milestones with clear deliverables
Report progress
- Funds (net of platform and Stripe fees) are released to your Stripe Connect account when the campaign reaches its goal
- Publish milestone progress updates against your stated plan
- Failure to publish milestone updates may result in loss of credentialing status
Researcher credentialing
What our review
covers.
And, just as importantly, what it doesn’t.
Institutional fast-track
Researchers with institutional email domains may have a faster review path. Campaigns only go live after platform approval.
Manual review
Non-institutional researchers submit credentials, publications, and affiliations for review by our team.
Ongoing reporting
Researchers commit to publishing milestone progress updates against their stated plan. Repeated failure to report may result in loss of credentialing status.
What we don't do
We do not evaluate the scientific merit of research proposals, certify methodology, or predict outcomes. Credentialing confirms identity and stated affiliations; it does not endorse the research itself.
